I had what anyone could wish for, a day that celebrated so many achievements on so many levels, a day that started as a battle of coping mechanism dealing with such heavy mental strain as my mother battled for her life, I rode my heart out, NEVER to QUIT or CAN’T! As time went by, day by day I pushed, 30 50 100 200, I remember about 220 saying wow imagine 365? Well it was also time I questioned WHY as it wasn’t really about my mums battle anymore as The daily struggles became the normal! so I reached out to you! Many took the time to respond to a question how my daily media affected you ? My rides, my quotes, photo’s etc well I was overwhelmed once again with your thoughts! ( thank you ) I knew then that all this had changed from me to you! Making a difference! Realizing my mental place had shifted through my physical activity !
So that day came on April 9th! This day had been dreamt, thought about, and I gave it all! Last night I was surrounded with a full house of LOVE, SUPPORT and most of all MY FRIENDS!
Every ride into Deep Cove will never be the same, riding in with a RCMP escort was truly a highlight of my life! Now my rides will be BETTER, every Coffee at Bluhouse will never be the same it will be BETTER as will be looking at a wall of a journey that celebrated a year of my life and the hearts that filled it that room with support!
So today I am up at my time, 4 am, sharing my next chapter that myself and friend Bill Paine, are about endeavor “Ride Alive 365” “Hike Alive 365” a collaboration of many physical activities that can and will help promote a physical and mental health care! Bill and I sat down about 4 months ago at a Hockey game and said I want to give back to mental health awareness and I want to do it with you! That day was the seed that this next venture came! We watered it and here we are, we are taking residence of people dealing with Mental Health out riding, hiking etc promoting physical health and being the smile! Takes TIME that’s all!
